During Lockdown we have all experienced so much change. We have had to adapt the way we live and support our children and still, we look ahead to so much uncertainty. For children, all of these changes have brought both excitement and anxiety which is why it is so important that support is still available to help them navigate their way through it.
Since March 2020 I have adapted my clinical practice to support children with a variety of needs online via Zoom. I am able to offer an adjusted but successful creative therapeutic process in order to support young people.
All you would need is a quiet and safe room within your home, where the child has a confidential space to move around and talk freely.
Zoom session would last for 50 minutes and would start and end with contact with parents/carers. In my home office (which is where I am located for Zoom sessions) I have a variety of playful and creative objects such as puppets, paper, pens, paints, small toys, playdoh and many other items to help encourage creativity and play.
